An Incredible Farm Wedding near Lancelin

The Champagne was flowing for Kayla and Marek’s wedding day!

Kayla and Marek celebrated their wedding on a family property east of Lancelin witnessed by 130 guests. They met with me to discuss the style of photography they wanted, candid and natural which is great as that’s my style of weddings I prefer to shoot. Both of them are camera shy and wanted more of a snapshot of the wedding to look back on.

Brides and Grooms preparation before the wedding

The day started with me driving the 130km trip to the brides prep with her bridesmaids in a family home that was situated right on the beach at Ledge Point. Kayla had two bridesmaids and two brides-men, everyone was in good spirits when I arrived as the Champagne had already been popped.

Lot’s of dancing to Taylor Swift songs played as Kayla could be called a Swiftie, but it really made the mood fun.

After photographing the brides morning I headed to the Groom and his groomsmen, who were getting ready on the family property. Marek and his wedding party got ready in an old shearing shed that had been semi converted into a cool hangout area.

The wedding ceremony

The ceremony was performed by Andrew Pickering a marriage celebrant who I know well and is very professional at his job. The ceremony got under way with the groom almost in tears as Kayla walked down the aisle, the bride had the biggest smile on her face and everyone could see how happy she was. As Kayla and Marek walked back down the aisle after the offical duties were done, four confetti cannons went off enveloping the newly weds in a cloud of confetti. This made such an amazing photo with all the colours of the surroundings.

The wedding photos

After the large group photo we did family photos then headed off to do some photos around the farm. The property is very large so they drove me around to some spots they loved. The couple wanted their cat to be in the photos as it would go on walks with them around the bush.

I have never been to this location before and I had no problems crafting some amazing photos for the couple to cherish. Some highlights for photos were the olive trees and the bushland area down by the Moore River which created some great photos. But as I always say the background is second to the couple, they are the ones who make the photos shine.

One amazing wedding reception

The reception was next to where the ceremony was located in an old shearing shed that had significant restoration and conversion in to a large entertaining area, with walk in fridges and large marble kitchen.

A marquee was setup next to the build just in the event of rain. The wedding reception was a cocktail style with plenty of food and drinks for everyone.

Lot’s of French champagne was poured that night, I was lucky to have a glass of a beautiful RD 2008 vintage Bollinger that was very special. The groom had his sabre out cutting off the tops of French Champagne bottles during the day and did one just before cutting the wedding cake.

Where did the guests stay?

The property had beautiful shaded lawned areas this was made use of setting up the tents for the guests to stay.

Most guests stayed the night in the luxury glamping area a short distance from the reception. This included showers and toilets to make the stay enjoyable. The area reminded me of a upmarket music festival.

After I finished I drove back to Perth that night even though Kayla and Marek offered me a place to stay on the farm.

This wedding was so much fun with all the guests seemingly having a great experience, Marek and Kayla put on an amazing wedding celebration that their guests will surly remember in years to come.
