These moments can’t really be recreated. They need to be recognised as they’re happening.

One of the things I hear from couples is that they don’t want to spend their wedding day constantly being told what to do.
I understand that.
You’ve spent months planning the celebration. You’ve chosen the venue, the dress, the flowers, the food and the music. The last thing you need is to spend the entire day standing in front of a camera.
My approach is deliberately unobtrusive.
I’ll guide you when a little direction will create something beautiful, but I also know when to step back and let things happen.

Documentary photography isn’t about standing in the corner with a camera and hoping something happens.
It requires experience.
After more than 16 years photographing weddings, I’ve learnt to anticipate moments before they happen.
I know when a parent is about to become emotional.
I know when a speech is about to turn into something memorable.
I know when the light is changing.
I know when to move closer and when to stay back.
And I know when something is about to happen that you may not even have noticed.
That experience allows me to photograph naturally without constantly interrupting the day.
Editorial Wedding Photography With Real Emotion
While much of my approach is documentary, I also bring an editorial perspective to the photographs.
My background in fine art has influenced the way I look at light, composition, colour and space.
That means your wedding gallery isn’t simply a collection of candid snapshots.
I’ll look for beautiful light. Interesting compositions. Strong portraits. Details. Architecture. Movement. Atmosphere.

One of the things I love about photographing weddings in Perth is the variety of environments available.
