Dayana and Gabriel’s Wedding: A Celebration of Dance, Culture, and Fun
Dayana and Gabriel’s wedding was one I had been looking forward to for months. Both of them are passionate people, Dayana is a principal dancer with the West Australian Ballet, and Gabriel is from Spain, bringing his own cultural flair to the mix. I knew from the start that their wedding would be something special. And it certainly didn’t disappoint.

Getting Ready at Como The Treasury

The day began with both Dayana and Gabriel getting ready at Como The Treasury, a beautiful and historic hotel in the heart of Perth. It’s an elegant venue, perfect for a couple who appreciates style and comfort. The hotel provided a relaxed yet luxurious atmosphere for the bride, her mother, and her close friends. Gabriel, too, prepared at the same venue, but in a different part of the hotel, alongside his own mother and friends.
The excitement was building for what was going to be an unforgettable day.

Ceremony at St George’s Cathedral
The ceremony was held at St George’s Cathedral, which is just a short walk across the lane from Como The Treasury. This beautiful, historic cathedral is one of the most iconic buildings in Perth, and it provided a beautiful timeless setting for the couple to exchange their vows. Dayana walked down the aisle in a stunning dress, and the ceremony was a personal, meaningful moment for them and their guests.
The atmosphere was calm and intimate, with close friends and family gathered to witness their commitment. The music, the setting, and the personal vows made the ceremony feel special. There was a perfect blend of tradition and the couple’s unique style.

Wedding Photos Around the City
After the ceremony, we took photos around the State Buildings near Como The Treasury. This part of the city has a great mix of historic buildings, public art spaces, and a real urban feel. It was the perfect spot to get some relaxed but beautiful photos of the couple.
One highlight was the 1955 red Cadillac that arrived to take the couple around for a few more photos. The car added a touch of vintage charm, and the bright red colour created a great contrast against the city’s backdrop. It was a fun and stylish addition to the photos, giving everything a bit of old-school glamour.

A Fun and Relaxed Wedding Reception
The reception was held at the Cottesloe Civic Centre, which has views of the ocean. It was a relaxed and stylish venue, ideal for the couple’s vibe. There were around 200 guests, and the atmosphere was lively, full of energy, and most importantly, fun.

There were a lot of dancers from the West Australian Ballet in attendance, and their presence definitely brought a unique energy to the reception. It wasn’t a formal dinner; it was more like a celebration, with people dancing, chatting, and having a great time.
A Dance Surprise
One of the big surprises of the day came from Gabriel, who had arranged for a Brazilian dance show during the reception. It was a high-energy performance that got everyone involved and added a real festive vibe to the day. The dancers pulled guests from the crowd to be apart of the dance performance.

A Wedding Day Full of Energy
Dayana and Gabriel’s wedding wasn’t just about the ceremony and the reception; it was an experience. Their day was a perfect mix of culture, dance, and celebration. Both of them come from rich cultural backgrounds—Dayana from Cuba and Gabriel from Spain—and they made sure their wedding reflected that.

From the venue choices to the music to the performances, everything tied back to their love for art, dance, and celebration. It was a day that highlighted their backgrounds, but it was also about enjoying the moment with friends and family.
The day had a nice balance between elegance and fun. The ceremony was formal and beautiful, but the reception had a more laid-back, festive vibe. And, of course, the Brazilian dance show kept things lively, bringing an exciting, almost carnival-like atmosphere to the celebration.
A Memorable Wedding Celebration
Looking back, what made Dayana and Gabriel’s wedding stand out was how they managed to make it both personal and entertaining for everyone involved. The lively atmosphere made it feel more like a big party than a traditional wedding, and that’s exactly what they wanted.

Dayana and Gabriel’s wedding was a perfect mix of love, culture, and fun. It was clear that they didn’t just want a wedding—they wanted a celebration, and they certainly got that. From start to finish, it was an event that reflected who they are as a couple: passionate, creative, and full of energy.
As a photographer, it was a joy to capture such a vibrant and meaningful day. Their wedding was one of those events that will stay with me for a long time, not just for the amazing photos, but for the energy and love that surrounded them throughout the day.
